God as Shepherd

It’s that time of the year when the sheep herders of Colorado are getting ready to bring their sheep to lush meadows of the mountains. The shepherd will live all day, everyday of the summer in the high country with their sheep; protecting them from predators, bringing them to the lush meadows to feed, and keeping them together in relationship with him.

Jesus likens himself to a shepherd; one who cares for, nurtures, protects and guides those entrusted to Him. Jesus said in John 10:11,14 “I am the good Shepherd.” Our view of God the Father should be like that of the shepherd with the sheep. As Christians we have a Father that nurtures, protects, and is engaged in our life. It is a relationship. That must be our view of our Heavenly Father. Hebrews 1:3 says that Jesus is “the exact representation” of God the Father.

It’s the Father’s desire that He be your Shepherd every day. Start your day today knowing He is the Good Shepherd and He desires to bring you to the lush meadows of life.
